5 Best Brunch Spots in Liverpool
I have a feeling there might just be a few more people around Liverpool over the next couple of weeks, and so, as somebody who has lived in this truly beautiful city for nearly nine years (with a penchant for all things breakfast), it felt only right to share with you some of my favourite places for grabbing some breakfast food should you need it.
So, if youâre here for Eurovision, a little city break or any other reason at all, get yourself down to one or two of these for the best start to your day!
Moose Coffee
I couldnât not begin this post with Moose Coffee. Itâs a Liverpool staple, and a place I take any friend or loved one if they come to visit Liverpool for the first (or second, or thirdâĻ) time.
Itâs famous for itâs American pancakes, but itâs extensive menu offers much, much, more if youâre more inclined towards french toast, waffles, or something more savoury (the Mighty Moose breakfast also gets a high recommendation from me!).
They currently have three locations across Liverpool, but Iâd suggest booking in advance if you can - the queue is known to be out the door at busy times (but this only re-enforces just how good their food and coffee is!)
The Third Cafe
The Third Cafe is a little hidden gem just outside of the city centre up on Lark Lane. It serves homemade vegetarian and vegan food, all day breakfast and lunch, and is the perfect, cosy spot to tuck yourself away for an hour or two while you enjoy their excellent food.
Iâve only recently been to The Third Cafe recently when meeting a friend for brunch, but Iâm itching to go back. I had their peanut butter on toasted sourdough, with banana, honey and caramelised walnuts, and Iâm pretty sure I couldâve demolished a second serving.
Iâve since tried to recreate it at home, but itâs just nowhere near as good as the real thing.
The Third Cafe is a true independent cafe that is absolutely worth your visit, I promise.
The Quarter
Based up in The Georgian Quarter part of town, The Quarter, based up in The Georgian Quarter part of town, is an Italian inspired restaurant with a Parisian feel. If itâs a beautiful day, there is literally nothing better than sipping one of their coffees on the terrace looking out onto the cobbles.
A firm favourite in the city for lunch and dinner, I also love to head up for some breakfast, too. Whether youâre just after something small like a croissant or some granola, something sweet like their berry compote pancakes, or something savoury like their eggs and smashed avo, they have something to suit your every mood.
The staff have always been super friendly and thereâs a real chilled atmosphere in here, which is perfect if youâre looking for a slow morning.
Hardware Coffee & Kitchen
Okay, so, Hardware Coffee & Kitchen hasnât long been open but good god, their food (and coffee!) is good.
We paid a visit a couple of weeks ago and tried their Lotus Biscoff Pancake Stack, which comes complete with Lotus Biscoff spread, crumbled Lotus biscuits, cheesecake mousse, vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. It. Was. So. Good.
Itâs the only menu item I can account for (so far!) but if the rest of the food is as good as this was, youâre going to have the best start to your day.
Hardware is walk-in only as they donât take bookings, so Iâd recommend getting round there reasonably early to avoid queuing!
Brasco Lounge
Based right on the beautiful - and historic - Liverpool waterfront, Brasco Lounge was one of the first places I visited when I moved to Liverpool, and somewhere I return to often.
Their coffee is one of my favourites in the city, and their chilled and informal vibe makes for the perfect place to catch up with friends while admiring the view.
The staff here have always gone out of their way to make sure everything is perfect, and they are also dog friendly, offering free dog treats for any four-legged-friends that may also want to visit.
